Outdoor Play
Outdoor play is important for health and wellbeing. It offers freedom and space for large scale movements and running, its multisensory and therefore good for development and learning. I hope to foster a love of nature and the outdoors through our garden and supplemented with walks in the parklands which includes a small woodland as well as visits to larger woodlands within Milton Keynes. Here children can learn more about nature and the environment and we will be following the Hygge Wanderlust Child Nature Study Programme.
We may also have trips to the local nature reserve and parks in Milton Keynes for lots of different activities and explorations.
I have set up the garden with lots of variety of activities which includes a sand pit, water table, mud kitchen and a sensory fairy garden. Lots of the toys we have can also be used in the garden where there is more space to play, I have Wellies and waterproofs children can use and I hope to have permanent shelters in the garden to prolong our use of it in all weathers.

We got involved in growing acorns for our local ancient woodland Linford Woods so The Parks Trust could plant them to replace the Ash trees they needed to remove due to Ash Dieback disease.
We also grew frogs from tadpole in our small pond. We later found the frog hopping around the garden one evening so I took pictures to show the children.
