My Story
Hello, my name is Karen and I qualified with early years teacher status in 2014 and am an accredited schema play practitioner. I have 5 children (ranging from early teens to adult) and I have experience of working in different early years settings mainly working with children 2-4 years old. I am a passionate, child led practitioner keen to bring my knowledge and experience to home based childcare. I offer a tailored provision following the needs and interests of the children in my care and their families in lots of different ways and spaces in order to expand the children's experiences and extend their learning.
I live with my husband and 2 of my children. I started my career in child care as a childminder when my youngest was 2 years old so I could work whilst bringing up my children. As I believe that parents pay an important role in the education and development of their children and I didn't want my own children to miss out on that.
I am passionate about early childhood development as well as supporting parents learning about how children learn and what they can do to best support their children's development and education. My practice is informed by sound child developmental theory and inspired by Froebel, Reggio Emilia and Montessori among others. I am also keen to add to the literature and knowledge of child development to improve all children's outcomes not just those in my care. |
In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching TV and movies and going for walks. I have many creative interests including beading, crochet, making my own resources and nature photography.
